The Department of Physics & Electronics ever since its inception in the year 1949 has remained a strong pillar of our esteemed college. Not only it has contributed a lot towards students’ learning but also has been an immense source of inspiration and motivation for the teachers; thus, strengthening both the components of two way teaching-learning processes. All the faculty members are highly qualified and have carried out their Ph.D. research work from the institutes of national/international repute. The department is equipped with modern infrastructure & well-provisioned laboratories. These laboratories are supported by well-qualified lecture assistants and laboratory attendants. The department takes utmost care to make aware its students about ongoing latest Research & Development in the subject. In summary, all the teaching and non-teaching staff members of the department are working with full dedication and commitment to enrich the knowledge as well as life-experiences of the students.

The Department since its inception in 1949 has shown an everlasting tradition of educational excellence in training and nurturing the finest talents. Being the Head of the Department, I feel extremely honored to have best teachers, who not only are highly qualified but work with utmost commitment and dedication. Our department is equipped with modern infrastructure & laboratory facilities with highly qualified lab/non-teaching staff. The department runs B.Sc. (Physics), B.Sc. Physics with Electronics/Computer Science/Information Technology specialization and M.Sc. Physics courses with an intake of more than 750 students every year in U.G. and P.G. classes. The department takes utmost care to provide its students exposure to the ongoing research that is being carried out in the different areas of Physics world-wide. The department has embarked on continual upgrading of its facilities; moreover, we inspire both the faculty members and students to participate in various knowledge exchange platforms for their enrichment. We, as a department wish to inculcate interest in the Physics subject through small class-room projects and look forward for any collaboration so that students can well integrate their knowledge with stakeholders/industries, and work towards the need of them. In short, through achieving its vision, the department is contributing to the organizational growth.

Moreover, as a staff member of the Department, all strives hard to impart comprehensive education in the fundamental as well as in the applied aspects of Physics and its applications.
